Story
Federal agents recently discovered underground factories in the Bay Area that have been producing candy and soda laced with THC. The factories are believed to supply cooperatives that distribute medical marijuana to AIDS and cancer patients. This newly designed form of the drug has flashy packaging similar to that of junk food rather than being bottled and labeled as medicine. The resemblance has spawned debate. Federal agents argue that the packaging may be enticing to children. However, representatives of medical marijuana cooperatives say that the snacks provide an alternative method of consumption for patients who have trouble smoking. They also maintain that the marijuana-laced concoctions are accessible only to the appropriate medical patients and that the federal government is trying to impose laws on the state.
